NASA test-fires its next-generation ejector seat, sending flames shooting into the Utah desert. Designed to get the crew of the space shuttle's replacement as far away from the launch vehicle as possible in case of an emergency, the motor delivers half a million pounds of thrust, expelling nearly all its fuel in just three seconds.
